Lung Dialogue
Icon A hot air balloon symbolizes the Lung body type. Air or oxygen creates buoyancy and is necessary for life. Nurturing and creative, Lungs give life to their world by expressing positive, supportive emotions, enabling them to make the most of the moment.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

PSYCHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS

ManWomanThe Lung body type is characterized by flat-to-rounded buttocks and has an straight-to-average low back curvature. Female Lungs gain their initial weight in their lower abdomen, waist and upper hips with little (or no) gain in their thighs. They often have high cheekbones with a square or V-shaped jaw, and may have a prominent chin with an average oval, or rectangular face. Women are typically petite-to-average in height with small-to-average breasts and an average, elongated musculature. Male Lungs have a torso that appears relatively straight from the front, yet tapered and more dominant from the back. Their shoulders are moderately to markedly broader than their hips. Their initial weight gain appears as a solid thickening in their waist with little-to-no gain in their abdomen - or they have a solid musculature in the lower-to-entire abdomen. Male Lungs also have a moderate ability to attain muscle definition in their torso with a basic workout program. The Lung body type characteristically has an excellent, often exceptional, lung capacity. However, when stressed, they may experience respiratory weakness, asthma, bronchitis or emphysema. Exercise helps calm the mind and is helpful to a Lung's emotional state.

Lung types are nurturing and creative, giving life to their world by expressing positive, supportive emotions. They understand the value of "keeping the peace" and will nurture relationships over personal achievements. However, this nurturing instinct can lead to becoming a "caretaker" or "rescuer" of others. Persistent and loyal, it's not unusual for Lungs to fight for the underdog, often getting involved in service-oriented vocations. Lungs are very systematic in their thought process and will think things through before taking any action. Work that is methodical and requires care is more appealing than that which requires quick decisions and high responsibility.

"AT BEST"

"AT WORST"

  • Practical, efficient and aware of what needs to be done, Lungs can take charge and be trusted to honor their commitments.
  • When balanced, Lungs can nurture others as well as themselves and can be quite self-sufficient.
  • Known for their creativity, imagination and expression, Lungs can leave a lasting impression on people. They can connect and activate others' energy, and are effective social reformers, speakers or performers.

  • Strong-willed to the point of stubbornness, Lungs tend to operate from gut feelings, rather than outside information. This can lead them into a "rut" and make them narrow-minded.
  • Lungs often have difficulty organizing their time, and it's easy for them to lose time socializing or puttering around on a project.
  • Lungs are fearful of disapproval and have a strong need to please others -- but Lungs are often unsuccessful at nurturing themselves. Being afraid of conflict, Lungs avoid it. This often makes them feel resentful, disappointed, sad or depressed.
