Hypothalamus Dialogue
Icon A traffic signal symbolizes the Hypothalamus body type. Just as the hypothalamus is in charge of keeping the body running, Hypothalamuses have an intense sense of responsibility, and are cautious about their decisions. Detailed and meticulous, Hypothalamuses will extensively gather data and focus exclusively on what is at hand.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

PSYCHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS

ManWomanThe Hypothalamus body type often has a wistful, distant look in their eyes and their height is average to tall. Female Hypothalamuses can gain weight in one of two ways. They can either have long, slender torsos and initially gain weight in their lower abdomen, and the entire upper 2/3rds of their thighs (including upper inner thighs, buttocks, upper hips and waist). Or, have a broad chest and torso, gaining weight in their entire abdomen, waist, upper hips and buttocks. Male Hypothalamuses have a dominant chest with a thick, straight torso and smaller lower body with thin-to-average thighs and calves. Both male and female Hypothalamuses have a small-to-average head size and may have difficulty gaining or maintaining weight.

Hypothalamus body types are characterized by extremes. This type will completely immerse themselves in a project or endeavor - then transfer all their energy into something else (as if going though phases.) They enjoy an intense sense of responsibility and accuracy, tending to approach life with a certain caution. With a deep innate curiosity, Hypothalamuses are comfortable in the world of concepts and ideas. However, intimate relationships are often a major challenge - women find that they have difficulty maintaining their identity and self-expression, while men have difficulty dealing with problems and sharing emotions. Hypothalamuses are crusaders and will fight for social reform and worthy causes like finding a cure for paralysis, or saving the environment.

DOMINANT GLAND FUNCTION

BEST RESTAURANT CHOICES

The Hypothalamus controls visceral activities, such as water balance, temperature and sleep. It directs the pituitary, which is the master gland that governs the endocrine system.

"AT BEST"

"AT WORST"

  • Natural decision-makers, Hypothalamuses are mentally adept and good at analyzing things objectively.
  • Happiest when creatively involved in their current challenge, Hypothalamuses skillfully handle whatever obstacles arise and are flexible enough to change their approach.
  • At their best, Hypothalamuses are intuitive and receptive. Once they learn to trust their intuition and join their innate receptivity to their inborn tenacity, their success in any endeavor is virtually assured.

  • Hypothalamuses tend to believe things will "fall into place" without having to do anything about it—especially in regards to finances.
  • Because of their difficulties trusting their intuition, Hypothalamuses may struggle with a problem too long, trying to solve it logically without creating an intuitive space for the solution to manifest.
  • Because they tend to be mentally focused, Hypothalamuses need other people to serve as "sounding boards"—especially when emotional issues are involved.
