Icon The yin yang sign symbolizes the Balanced body type. Dependent upon everything working together synergistically, Balanced body types need a balance between work and play, as well as all other aspects of life. Essentially playful and adventurous, they embody the synergy that brings about balance.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

PSYCHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS

ManWomanThe Balanced body type often appears as a combination of other body types. They appear this way because a Balanced person doesn't have a dominant gland, system or organ (unlike the other 24 body types), their body balances all the glands, organs and systems. The identifying characteristic of the Balanced type is a long waist with short to average legs, or a short waist with long legs.

When a female Balanced body type smiles, one is immediately drawn to her bright, sparkling, expressive eyes. Her main distinguishing physical feature is her flat and droopy buttocks, which is also the location of her initial weight gain. From there, she experiences a secondary weight gain that extends into her lower abdomen, waist and her upper and/or lower hips.

The male Balanced type may have wide hips and tends to be average to very tall. His torso and musculature are average. His initial weight gain manifests as solid musculature in his lower to entire abdomen, and a solid thickening around his waist. A male Balanced type may also may have a soft layer of fat covering his abdomen. Physical characteristics show a strong secondary gland influence; this can cause him to look a lot like another type (yet not quite "fit.").

Sensitive by nature, Balanced types have a fragile equilibrium and will go to great lengths to maintain their delicate balance - especially concerning work and play. Pursuing their passion and enjoying a sense of adventure, travel, and a lust for life helps Balanced types release stress and rejuvenate. Although Balanced types are extremely social and the life of the party, they can be very wary about forming deep new friendships. This fear of intimacy causes them to nurture relationships very slowly, often limiting them to a few close friends. Motivated by a need for acceptance, Balanced types often suppress or deny their feelings. These suppressed emotions typically manifest as physical complaints, such as headaches and digestive problems. Imaginative and creative, their acute sight, hearing and touch are balanced with a natural rhythm and timing. This rhythm and timing allows the Balanced type to discover their inner sense of stability and balance.

DOMINANT GLAND FUNCTION

BEST RESTAURANT CHOICES

No one gland or organ is dominant in the Balanced body type. All glands, organs and systems must work together harmoniously for optimal functioning.

ChineseBalanced body types need variety in their diets and do best when they rotate their foods They want to emphasize protein and fat for lunch, and vegetables for dinner. Best cuisine bets are Chinese, Thai, Japanese (including sushi), Moroccan, Mexican, French and Italian.

"AT BEST"

"AT WORST"

  • Persistent, goal oriented and self-starting, Balanced types gladly accept personal responsibility for the completion of a task. Their conscientious manner makes them highly dependable, and they will happily work into the wee hours to meet deadlines.
  • Play is crucial to the Balanced type. Pursuing their passion and making work and play synonymous gives them the harmony they need for a sense of well being, optimism and a positive attitude.
  • Balanced types are self-contained and at peace within themselves. Having developed an inner sense of harmony and balance, they have an easygoing, forgiving and humorous nature. Their joyful nature brings lightness and balance into the lives of those they touch.

  • Balanced types can become extremely impatient, both with themselves and others, when things go wrong and their need for order and balance isn't satisfied.
  • Motivated by a need for acceptance by others, Balanced types often suppress or deny their feelings. This causes them to appear distant, detached or preoccupied. These suppressed emotions manifest as physical problems, such as headaches or digestive problems.
  • If a Balanced type hasn't developed their own inner sense of security, they will typically look to others to provide it for them. This often causes them to settle for relationships that are detrimental to their personal growth and inner peace.
