SEVERE reactive hypoglycemiaPosted By Tara on August 24, 2001 at 00:42:52:
Hi. I am trying to gather some information on what tests need to be performed to determine if there is something more serious than just reactive hypo going on? My father has an appointment with an endo, on Tues, and if anyone has been through the whole process already and would care to share what we need to ask to have done I would appreciate it. He has been through an 88 hour glucose tolerance test and had a fasting insulin. All, ofcourse, NORMAL!!! Yet... he can get up in the morning and eat 2 eggs, 2 pc wheat toast, 2 pieces of ham, and glass of oj and a glass of milk, and 1 hour later have a reading of 54. He took a little ambulance ride a couple of weeks ago, when the barber contacted us that he was passed out in the chair, with a level of 22. He was completely unconscious, and from what I have learned, this can do permanent damage, if he hadn't gotten pulled out in time. He is a carpenter and works on jobs in remote areas sometimes. So, as this appointment nears, I am hoping to get all we can out of it. If anyone has any suggestions for what tests need to be run, I would be so thankful! Thanks! Tara :)
