College students find body type success!

I am new to the whole concept of body typing, and am new to the Web site. I’ve been doing some writing for the Bodytype.com site, and have learned so much about my body in only a short time!

I have always considered myself a healthy person, very active, but have never wanted to get on the diet roller coaster as I have seen so many people do. I never wanted to think about what I was eating, or stick to a specific program. Body typing has changed my outlook.

This month, I decided to do my own body type profile. I figured it would be good to do in order to understand what you, the readers, go through in order to determine yours. I recruited a couple of friends, Andy and Misty, to do this with me. We are all relatively healthy beings, and thought this would be fun.

Confusion followed. How do you figure this out? Where do you even start?

I realized as we went through this that we live in the age of fast food and fast demands. None of us wanted to read through all the descriptions to figure out what we were! Especially as college students, who do our share of reading, this did not seem appealing. This is quite a big heavy book, and we dread those.

It turned out to be easy.

As we read through the physical profiles and moved further into the psychological profiles, we found out that this was not only easy, but very interesting as well. We were able to see how well the psychological profile fit our personalities, and laughed about the foods we loved that were listed on the “stressful” list. Andy is addicted to coffee, and found it hard to humor the thought of giving it up.

Turns out that I am a blood type! The psychological profile that Dr. Mein gave was a perfect match for me. We strive for harmony, and want to circulate it to those around us as well. The book nailed my weakness: I want to please everyone! Knowing that this is in my nature has helped me to understand myself better, and to relax in situations when I can’t be everyone’s favorite.

Changing our diets has been fun too! What we all found is not that we aren’t eating healthy foods, rather that we are eating them at the wrong times, and in the wrong amounts. I want to maximize my health, and was willing to change immediately. At first it was weird eating potatoes for breakfast, and chicken for lunch, as the book recommended. My body has really embraced the changes that I have made, and I now have more energy in the middle of the day, whereas before, I was ready for a siesta around noon!

Now it’s fun to know what is good for me and what is not. I know more about my body, understand its cycles and the importance of eating healthily.

But, eating healthily has taken on a whole new meaning! It doesn’t mean eating granola and bran all the time. It means eating according to what my body is telling me.

Since I am very active with running, biking, climbing, and more, it is nice to know what foods are good for me, and that I don’t have to eat them all in moderation. I can eat a lot of the foods that fit my needs!

So, if you are new to this, don’t be intimidated. This is coming from a college student; so if I can do it, anyone can! Learn to see the fun in it, and enjoy being healthy!
